What is VOIPconnect?
VOIPconnect is your gateway between the world of Voice over IP (VoIP) and traditional telephony. By purchasing an Asterisk server or a SIP phone you are now able to utilize VoIP, but the usefulness of your device is limited by the connections it has with the rest of the world. VOIPconnect connects your server or phone to the almost anywhere in the world, meaning that you can call almost anywhere in the world. You can send calls to other Asterisk servers and SIP phones or you can call ordinary analogue phones through the PSTN.
Additionally VOIPconnect makes use of least cost routing to ensure that the costs to you are as minimal as possible, whiles ensuring good call quality. This means that our charges are usually substantially lower than calls being sent over traditional mediums.
We offer two types of VOIPconnect accounts: Trunk accounts and Single user accounts. Trunk accounts being tailored specifically for use with PBX's (specifically Asterisk), and Single user accounts being tailored for a single SIP phone.
When signing up for an account we will assign you 087 number(s) for you incoming calls.

How much does it cost?
All prices ex VAT:
A monthly subscription fee is charged as below
- Trunk account: R95 pm
- Single user account: R45 pm
For outbound calls, calling credit is purchased on a top-up basis:
- Calls to other VOIPconnect users: free (useful for interbranch calling)
- R0.36 per min for calls to the following dialling code areas - 010, 011, 012, 013, 014, 015 and all numbers starting 02, 03 and 05
- R0.49 per min for calls to other local landlines.
- Calls to Vodacom: R0.99 per min
- Calls to MTN/CellC: R1.40 per min
- Calls to international landlines: R0.55 per min *
- Calls to international cell phones: ~R1.50 per min

Example countries at 55c per minute (these are national land line numbers) - Australia, Puerto Rico, Portugal, Poland, Panama City, New Zealand, Netherlands, Monaco, Malaysia, Luxembourg, Korea (South), Ireland, Hungary, Hong Kong, Guam, Greece, Germany, France, Denmark, China, Brazil, Belgium, Austria, Norway, USA - national, UK - national, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Russia Moscow (Central).
Inbound calls:
Both incoming calls and calls to other VOIPconnect users are charged to your free minutes. Single user accounts get 500 free minutes per month and trunk accounts get 1000 free minutes per month. After which these calls are charged at 5c per minute (charged per second).
From our experience we are usually around 30% cheaper than using telkom. Obviously this depends on the nature of your calls. For example if you do a lot of overseas calling then you might save as much as 50-60%.
